Alas, this commenter does not think one too many alliterations were used! In fact, perhaps another M word would complete the sentence. May I propose: "meander with myth and metaphor", "muse with myth and metaphor", or "marinate in myth and metaphor" as potential additions. ◡̈

A woman after my own heart! Sorry to be so long to respond: I got some drippy, snotty, head fogging ick and lost track of all the things.

I enjoy using cards in therapy and have several different sets. I love the way you utilised them here and how they inspired a shift to creative thinking over logical, and perhaps an ability to trust their 'gut' more?

I have a thought, though - my understanding is that modern research has mainly debunked the idea of right and left brain division. Both hemispheres light up in a very interconnected way during imaging.

Helen! I'm so sorry it took so long to reply-- I have had a cold (covid? allergies?) for 3 weeks and all hemispheres of my brain seemed fogged.

It's so funny you brought that up because the man leading the workshop I refer to is a medical doctor and I asked him the same question! He told me that most in the medical community still consider it valid and he uses it in his own work. Its always resonated with me so I'm going with it until I get hard proof otherwise.

I suppose it causes little harm either way, in how we are using the reference at least! Sorry to hear you have been so poorly I hope you are out the other side and feeling more yourself 🤧

Helen, when my nerdiest self emerges, she proudly proclaims that the corpus callosum is her favorite part of the brain. Where would we be without the connections between hemispheres?!

Maia, this piece reminded me of all those days I spent writing Everything Left to Remember. My practice was to always pull one of your oracle cards (The Illustrated Herbiary) before sitting down to write. They opened many doors - California Poppy in particular!

I remember! You would often call me to discuss, which was so much fun.
